Bangladesh has been ranked in NASA's 'Honorable Mansion Champion' list. The 'BUET Zenith' team of Bangladesh University of Engineering has won the 'Honorable Mention' category in 'Space Apps Competition 2020'. The results were published by the US space agency NASA on their website in Bangladesh's 'BUET Zenith'.
BUET Zenith won this special title out of 3600 projects in 150 countries of the world. The members of the party are Hasan Masum, Jihadul Karim, Rabib Zahin, Tamimul Ehsan, Mehrab Haque, Fabiha Tasneem. Mehrab Haque, a member of the party, told the media that he has worked to increase satellite connectivity. The purpose or function of their project is to collect the information about the state of any satellite in space and pass it on to everyone. The main task of their project is to collect this information and make it easily available to the people.
The team participated in the competition under the supervision of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services. As the organizer, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services organized 'NASA Space App Challenge-2020' on a large scale in nine cities of the country. In the final round, Dhaka district team named 'BUET Zenith' and 'Back picker' team from Barisal district team took place among the 40 finalists.
Earlier, Bangladesh became the champion in the Best Data User category in 2017 from NASA. From there, 17 projects of the runners-up team were submitted by NASA to the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services or BASIS.
NASA has published the list of world champions and honorable mentions of 'NASA Space Apps Challenge-2020' on their website. Among the 3,600 projects in the world, the Bangladesh team 'BUET Zenith' has been included in the list of Honorable Mention of Global Finalists.
BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir said that the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET Zenith) team has once again made the country famous in the US NASA Space App Competition as in 2018. This is a matter of great pride for us. Besides, he said, I believe that the youth of Bangladesh will repeatedly present the country in a respectable place in the court of the world.
