What is virtual reality?
Virtual reality is fantasy or imaginary reality. It is not real in the real sense but the imagination or imaginary reality of science that evokes consciousness like reality. Virtual reality is called VR for short. Virtual reality is based on computer technology and simulation theory. Let me give you a small example about virtual reality.
Suppose a school teacher in Dhaka is trying to tell students about Cox's Bazar beach. But somehow some students do not understand that. In this case, the teacher took the students to the computer lab and put special helmets on their heads and special gloves on their hands and special equipment on their feet. Then the students each saw that they had come to Cox’s Bazar beach and the huge sea waves in front were crashing against the shore. They can hear the sound of the sea waves and feel the cold water of the sea in their hands. They are walking in that classroom, yet they feel like they are walking on the beach.
The above experience is virtual reality. Which is not real but is as true as reality. Creating three-dimensional images in virtual reality makes it possible to do every impossible thing. Anyone who wishes can go to the land of the moon, or to the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean, or to a beach. It is a computer controlled environment, where a person can feel the same realities of hearing, mental and physical sensations with that environment.
Which devices are used in virtual reality:?
Virtual reality uses head mounted displays, data gloves, body suites, high quality audio systems, reality engines, and more.
Vision: The person is taught a special pair of glasses and a helmet to experience virtual reality. Those glasses or helmets have a small screen and use a multidimensional display. In this way the user is able to observe the realistic but surreal scene.
Words: In virtual reality, words seem to emanate or change from a particular place. The reason for adding three-dimensional words to virtual reality is that the sound creates a kind of real three-dimensional environment. It seems to the person that the word is coming from a real source.
Touch: Special types of shoes, gloves, special body clothing used in virtual reality technology artificially brings a person closer to the real situation. The reason for this is that the feeling of touch is actually found through these instruments.
Impact of virtual reality in daily life
Virtual reality provides a person with real experience without any physical risk or danger. As a result, one can experience the place without going to any risky place. Through which this technology is widely used in the practical and safe training of professionals to acquire skills in various professional fields. Especially in the fields of medicine, car or aviation, military combat training, there is a possibility of any physical damage in various ways. It is possible to make it completely safe by training in these areas using virtual reality.
In reality, there is a risk of an accident while flying or driving. However, if virtual reality is used in these cases, then there is no risk of an accident in this environment, because here using a completely artificial environment, realistic scenes and models have been created. A pilot can take flight training there as a reality. Also a driver can learn to drive here completely without any accident.
Virtual Reality in Medicine: In the developed world, virtual reality is used to provide modern quality training to doctors. Surgical training is currently provided in 'MIST Virtual Reality Laparoscopic' training. As a result, it is very easy for a doctor to gain experience working in an operating theater. Virtual Reality makes it possible to conduct research on a wide range of complex operations, including the structure and functioning of small organs, DNA analysis, and more.
Virtual Reality in Car Driving Training : It is possible to teach driving to a person very easily through virtual reality. Through this a trainee can easily acquire the skill of driving in real life by driving like in real life. As a result, a trainee can learn to drive without an accident.
Space mission training: There are different types of risks in each phase of the space mission. Before going into space, an astronaut needs to know all the nuances of spacecraft training and practical knowledge of training. And all the details for this spacecraft training are taught through virtual reality. Through which a new astronaut gets the experience of flying a spacecraft while sitting on the earth. While on Earth, astronauts can take pre-training on space research in an imaginary environment and adapt to space.
Negative effects of virtual reality in daily life
While virtual reality has a wide range of positive effects, it also has negative effects. Negative effects include the high cost of virtual reality equipment, the harmful effects of health, inhumanity, and wandering in the world of imagination.
Due to the high cost of virtual reality equipment, it is not widely available. In addition, the use of this technology has health risks. It causes extensive damage to human eyesight and hearing. As a result of using virtual reality, people will find a better environment and mind-like partner than the real one. As a result, mutual friendship and inhumanity will increase among the people. As a result, human society will gradually become extinct. Therefore, it can be said that if virtual reality is widely used, these negative aspects will be observed among people.
